Downward Doulas value wellness and wish for all people to feel physically and emotionally supported to live their best life. We started a friendship over the love of locally farmed food and fostered it in yoga classes over the years. We want to share our love of health through an outdoor yoga studio, nutritional coaching, and doula services in our area.
But our ultimate goal is for people to find happiness in all that they do. We know that you won't keep doing something that is boring, stagnant, or just plain hard. We strive to make all of our classes, workshops, and consultations fun and challenging. Whether that is doing downward dog with a goat jumping on your back or learning to cook amazing whole foods in new and savory ways, we are here to support your goals of health and wellness.

Downward Doulas
Missy Crane - Doula, Yogi, Farmer
Missy has three adult children; the younger two being birthed at home. This positive experience with personal birthing care led her to pursue a doula certification. She has been a practicing doula for ten years. Several years ago, she and her husband decided to reevaluate their lifestyle and bought a farm. They found their focus in growing their own foods and being able to offer these fruits and veggies to their communities, including the local school system. During this time, she found yoga to be transformative and decided that studying to become a registered yoga trainer could also benefit her doula clients.

Brooke Lewis-Slamkova - Yogi, Doula, Foodie
Brooke found yoga after her third child was born. Looking for a way to get her body back, yoga did more than change her appearance. She found that she felt stronger, mentally clearer, and emotionally better prepared for life. She has been a registered yoga trainer for over ten years. She continued her yoga practice through her entire fourth pregnancy and realized the benefits it could offer other pregnant women. She also began farming to help provide her family with healthy, naturally grown foods. She is currently teaching nutrition and food science in a state certified program and pursuing her doula certification.

Happy People
Missy was my doula for my second birth and she was absolutely amazing. She was very thorough and detailed, gentle but firm when needed. She helped me plan for details I hadn't thought about (who is posting pictures/birth announcement, how to support my husband coach, etc.). She knew my birth plan well and made sure the nurses were aware of my needs and preferences. She is always open to feedback and calm and gentle during labor (I needed her gentle, reassuring touch). It was a wonderful natural birth experience and I felt very relaxed having her there. I highly recommend her as a doula! Naomi R.
